مصر: 36 قتيلا بعد اصطدام قطارين. 175 جريح

Egypt is in mourning after a train accident. At least 32 people were killed in a midday train collision in Sohag, southern Egypt on Friday, the health ministry said. “Thirty-two citizens died […] in the collision of two trains in Tahta, in Sohag governorate,” about 460 kilometers south of Cairo, the ministry said in a statement. At least 150 other people were injured. Dozens of ambulances were mobilized to transport the wounded to hospitals and medical reinforcements were sent from Cairo, according to the ministry.

Reacting to the tragedy, Egypt President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on Friday promised on Twitter a “dissuasive sanction” to anyone found responsible for the collision. “Anyone who caused this painful accident through negligence or corruption or any other reason should receive a dissuasive sanction, without exception or delay,” wrote Abdel Fattah al-Sisi on his Twitter account. The prosecution announced that it had opened an investigation to clarify the circumstances of the accident.
