Residence permits in France for the Algerians: refusals on the rise

France – Withdrawals, degradations and refusal to grant or renew residence permits for “serious threat to public order” to a category of foreign nationals, including Algerians, are increasing.

On the instructions of the Minister of the Interior, Gerald Darmanin, the prefects acted against people known for serious acts condemned by law. The prefects complied immediately and issued refusals to grant or renew, withdraw or even downgraded the period of validity of residence permits in France to those concerned, including Algerians.

This latter measure can change a ten-year card to a one (1) year card. The operation began on October 1 of last year (2020) reports Le Figaro. Thus, since the application of this policy dictated by the member of the government, Gérald Darmanin, concerning the withdrawal of residence cards, an increase in unfavorable opinions is evident.
