A (fake) Cameroonian International costs the MCA 5.5 billion

MC Alger is ordered to pay a real jackpot to one of his former players, Cameroonian Eva Wankewai Rooney, at the risk of being severely sanctioned. Indeed, the International Football Federation (FIFA) has ruled in favor of the ex-Mouloudéen in the conflict between the two parties for several months.

In this case, however, the MCA appears to be the victim of an outright scam. The MCA finds himself, so to speak, in the shoes of the con who has to pay his con artist. It must be said that in this “scandal”, the leaders of MC Algiers, those who recruited this player, were tricked like beginners.

It all started in the summer of 2019. Club leaders, headed by former president Omar Ghrib, had just boasted of having signed “a great Cameroonian international striker”. The test on the pitch quickly calmed their enthusiasm, however. The player disappointed both supporters and management staff, showing his limits. Doubt is thus installed in the dean’s house as to the veracity of the documents presented by “Rooney” concerning his international status. “Is he really an international? We wondered.

Leaders responsible for this scam
The doubts of the MCA leadership have been verified. The Cameroonian football federation, seized by its Algerian counterpart, the FAF, and by the club, confirmed, in its response, that this player was not on the list of internationals of this country. Rooney had therefore falsified his international credentials required in Algeria to play in his championship.

It was 2020 and it was already too late. The player had signed up for 3 years. The MCA have given themselves the right to unilaterally terminate their attacker’s contract. Something that was not to please Rooney who complained to FIFA. The latter ultimately ruled in his favor, rejecting the MCA’s plea.

The Algerian club is, therefore, ordered to pay 12 billion centimes to the player within 45 days. Otherwise, he will be prohibited from recruiting during the next three mercatos. However, the MCA has lodged an appeal and this time hopes to succeed.
