Manchester City star, Riyad Mahrez, expressed his happiness for his team winning the League Cup title, after winning Sunday night 1-0 against Tottenham in the final match.
Mahrez and Manchester City dominated the match from the start, wasting a wide range of opportunities, before French defender Emeric Laporte scored the winning goal in the 82nd minute.
“It was a difficult match, we knew it would be so. We continued to control and pass the ball, and I think we deserve to win today,” Mahrez told Sky Sports.
He continued: “You are always afraid because it (Tottenham) is a good team, but we are confident in the way we play. We are very happy. You have to win whether you played well or not. Today I think we played well and won.”
Regarding the partial return of the fans in this match on the “Wembley” stands, Mahrez said: “They (the fans) made a huge difference, 8,000 great numbers, and we are looking forward to the return of more of them.“
