Urgent: Fire clashes in the Arab Cup

The draw for the tenth Arab Cup, which was withdrawn today, Tuesday, in the Qatari capital, Doha, resulted in fiery confrontations, after the Saudi team faced its Moroccan counterpart, as well as the Algerian team against its Egyptian counterpart.

The lot resulted in groups of fire. The first group included Qatar (the organizer of the tournament), with Iraq, the winner from the Oman and Somalia match, and the winner from Bahrain and Kuwait, while the second group included Tunisia, the Emirates, and Syria, and the winner from Mauritania and Yemen.

The third group included Morocco and Saudi Arabia, the winner from facing Jordan and South Sudan, and the winner from facing Palestine and Comoros, while the fourth group included; The teams of Algeria, Egypt, and the winner are from Lebanon and Djibouti, and the winner is from Libya and Sudan.

The tournament will be held during the period from December 1 to December 18, under a joint organization between FIFA and the Arab Football Association, and the tournament includes 23 Arab teams, and it will be held at 6 of the 2022 World Cup stadiums in Qatar.

The draw ceremony was attended by Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al-Faisal, President of the Arab Football Association, Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation (FIFA), and Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa bin Ahmed Al Thani, President of the Qatari Federation.

The stars Wael Gomaa (Egypt), Nawaf Al-Tamyat (Saudi Arabia), Haitham Mustafa (Sudan), and Younis Mahmoud (Iraq) were chosen, along with Manola Zubira, director of competitions at FIFA, to conduct the draw ceremony.

The list of participating teams includes the teams of Qatar, the host country, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the Emirates, Algeria, Bahrain, Comoros, Djibouti, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Mauritania, Morocco, Oman, Palestine, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia and Yemen.

Lottery system

The participating Arab teams were divided into two categories, in order to spare the teams that occupy the top 9 Arab positions according to the global rankings, from playing the preliminary rounds, as they would qualify directly for the group stage, and these teams are: Qatar, the host country, and its ranking on the global rankings (58), and Tunisia ( 26), Algeria (33), Morocco (34), Egypt (46), Saudi Arabia (65), Iraq (68), the UAE (73), and Syria (79).

As for the remaining 14 teams, they will play the preliminary round, in order to qualify for the group stage, which consists of 16 teams, and will be distributed into 4 groups.

The final match of the Arab Cup will be held on December 18, in conjunction with the National Day of the State of Qatar.

The organizing committee distributed the participating teams to 4 levels according to their classification.

The first level includes the national team of the host country, “Qatar”, along with Tunisia, Algeria and Morocco.

And the second level came in Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Iraq and the Emirates.

In the third level, Syria comes with the qualifier from the meeting between Amman (80th in the world rankings) and Somalia (197), in addition to the two qualifiers from the preliminary round, where Lebanon (80) plays Djibouti (183), and Jordan (95) with South Sudan ( 169).

As for the fourth and final level, it includes the finalists from the Bahrain (99) encounters with Kuwait (148), Mauritania (101) with Yemen (145), Palestine (104), Comoros (131), Libya (119) and Sudan (123).
