The Premier League champions, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea, have officially announced their withdrawal from the Super League.
Manchester City was the first English club to officially announce its withdrawal, after Chelsea expressed its intention to take the same decision by preparing the documents required for the withdrawal.
“We confirm that we have started taking measures to withdraw from the group that is developing the European Super League proposal,” Tottenham said in a statement.
Arsenal wrote in a statement: “As a result of listening to the football community over the past days, we are withdrawing from the European Super League. We made a mistake and apologize for it.”
“Liverpool confirms that its involvement in the European Super League proposal will not continue,” Liverpool said.
Manchester United also wrote, “Manchester United will not participate in the European Super League.”
“We have listened attentively to the reaction of the fans and the British government, and we will continue to commit to working with the football community,” United’s statement continued.
